Man Eaten Alive By Pet Lion Just Days After Buying The Animal To Keep In His Back Garden

A man was fatally mauled and consumed by his pet lion only days after acquiring the animal to keep in his backyard.

In Najaf, southern Iraq, a resident was brutally attacked by the predator, which then ate most of his body on Thursday, May 8.

“Today in a garden in the city of Kufa in Najaf, a citizen was attacked by a lion in his own garden and d!ed immediately,” Mufid Tahir, spokesperson for the Najaf Police, told local news site Rudaw.

Tahir further stated that the lion was k!lled because it had devoured a significant portion of the man’s body and would not abandon the remains.

The victim, 50-year-old Aqil Fakhr al-Din, had reportedly been housing lions and other wild animals in his garden for several years, according to Tahir.

However, on Thursday, the predator unexpectedly turned on its keeper, savagely mauling him to de@th and feeding on him.

A neighbor of the victim reportedly stepped in and shot the lion dead with a Kalashnikov rifle, using seven bullets, as reported by local television.

The man was rushed to Al-Sadr Medical City Hospital in Najaf but succumbed to his injuries due to their severity.

Disturbing images showed the bloodied man lying on a hospital bed, and an official investigation has reportedly been launched to examine the incident’s circumstances.

A video of the deceased lion in the garden is also circulating on social media, sparking concerns about how al-Din was permitted to keep such a wild animal on his property.

Local reports indicate that the victim had bought the lion just days before the tragic incident, with plans to raise and tame it at home.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
