Man Hacks 14-Year-Old Girl With Machete After Failed R@pe Attempt In Abia

The police have detained a 33-year-old man, named Chinazum Nwaubani, for attacking a 14-year-old girl, leaving her in a coma in Obete Nchina Village, Ntighauzo community, Obingwa council area of Abia State, following an unsuccessful rape attempt.

According to Punch, the victim, Felicia Anaba, was collecting firewood with her male twin in a bush in the village when Chinazum assaulted them with a machete.

The suspect allegedly tried to rape Felicia, but she fiercely resisted, while her twin escaped.

Infuriated by her resistance, the suspect reportedly drew a machete and inflicted severe cuts on the girl’s head, leg, and hand before fleeing, leaving her in a pool of blood.

The victim’s father, Mr. Chijioke Anaba, stated that his family was promptly informed of the incident by Felicia’s twin, who escaped, expressing grief that his daughter lost consciousness due to excessive blood loss from the machete wounds when a search party rescued her from the bush.

He claimed that the Police at the Eastern Ngwa Division hindered his efforts to apprehend the suspect by allegedly demanding N30,000 to register the case, even after visiting the victim in the hospital.

Anaba expressed fear that the suspect, a resident of the same village, might be released from custody and continue attacking his family, noting that the Police claimed the suspect is mentally unstable, a claim he refuted.

“My daughter had fallen into coma when she was rescued by the search party in the bush. We took her to the hospital and lodged a report with the Police at the Eastern Ngwa Division,” he narrated.

“The Police demanded N30,000 to investigate the matter, which I paid. They have arrested the suspect, but from what’s happening, I am afraid that Chinazum may be released from detention to continue his attack and k!ll my daughter.

“The police should do their job because the boy is now a risk to the people in the village. The Police are saying he is a mad man but it’s not true.”

He appealed to the state governor’s wife, Priscilla Otti, to assist his daughter, who may face disability due to the severe machete wounds inflicted by the suspect.

The Abia State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Maureen Chinaka, confirmed the incident but denied the allegations of demanding money.

“We have no such report, as no one has come forward with evidence. This is not a time when anyone can simply make unverified allegations. Anyone with credible evidence is kindly advised to report to the Complaint Response Unit for proper investigation,” the PPRO said.

She verified that the police arrested Chinazum Nwaubani in connection with the attack on the twins, a boy and a girl, who were at their father’s farm in Obete Nchina village, Ntighauzo community.

“While at the farm, one Chinazum Nwaubani, aged 33 years and a resident of the same village, allegedly approached them armed with a machete. He reportedly grabbed the female twin, ordered her to lie down and remove her clothes. When she refused, the suspect allegedly attacked her with the machete, inflicting injuries on her head, back, and leg,” Chinaka stated.

She added that the male twin escaped and notified the family, triggering a rapid police response that led to the suspect’s arrest. The injured girl was taken to the hospital, and investigations are ongoing.
