Man Murders Wife In Lagos, Claims Car Crushed Her By Accident

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a father of seven, Azeez Balogun, over the death of his wife, Tawa, in the state’s Itire area of Ajangbadi.

Balogun’s neighbours accused him of constantly subjecting Tawa, who was said to be his second wife, to torture and abuse, whenever an argument ensued between them, according to reports.

A day before Tawa’s death, Balogun was said to have beaten her, as neighbours claimed that she screamed for help.

The deceased gave birth to three children, while the first wife had four children, The Punch reports.

A resident stated that Balogun went to report himself at the Agbara Police Station in Ogun state, after the incident.

He said, “We went to Ajangbadi Police Station to report what happened, however, the policemen at the station refused to pay attention to us.

“We were asked to report the matter at the Agbara Police Station.

“What we gathered was that the husband of the deceased was at Agbara Police Station to report himself. He confessed that he killed Tawa, but was not sounding remorseful at all.

“He called his Tawa’s sister over the phone to come and take the remains of his wife. He fled when Tawa’s younger brother came around. We told him to come and bury his wife, but he refused.

“In fact, he didn’t come for his wife’s burial, and none of his family members was present,” the resident added.

The Ogun state police public relations officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, stated that Balogun had been arrested, adding that the investigation was ongoing.

He said, “According to the testimony of the husband of the victim, he mistakenly knocked down the wife with his car when she helped him to open the gate while he was driving out of their residence.

“We are yet to ascertain if the victim’s husband lost control or mistakenly hit the wife as a result of brake failure or had other ulterior motives, but an investigation is still ongoing to uncover the true cause of the incident that led to the death of his wife.”

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
