According to the DCI, Kiptoo had intended Chelagat’s murder, because he had wished her “peace in death by inscribing the initials R.I.P on a photo later discovered in his cubicle.”

The duo had a rocky relationship before ending the affair, and Chelagat had since moved on.

Kiptoo, on the other hand, could not take it anymore and became enraged when he learned that his former sweetheart had found a new “catch” who had also bought her a new smartphone.

According to the statement, “A village in Sosiot Kericho county has been plunged into mourning after a form three student murdered his classmate over a relationship gone sour. “Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
