My Father’s Legacy Pushed Me To Study Law, Not Pressure – Falz

Falz, a well-known rapper and activist from Nigeria, has opened up about why he decided to study law.

When discussing his move into music, he denied that he was compelled to choose his father’s legal route.

Speaking with Chude Jideonwo on the “With Chude” podcast, Falz says he was motivated by his father Femi Falana SAN, who had a significant impact on many people.

Falz studied law in an effort to emulate his father’s influence as a result of this admiration.

But Falz’s love for music eventually took over after brief employment at his father’s company and the Ministry of Justice.

He recounts, “As a child, I felt compelled to make a name for myself due to people’s high expectations.”

Falz adds, “Hearing stories of my dad’s helpfulness and dedication motivated me to emulate him, not due to pressure, but genuine aspiration.

He notes, “I practiced law briefly, about two years, before pursuing music full-time in 2014.”
