Our Lady Of The Rosary

Galatians 1:6-12
Psalm 110(111):1-2,7-10
Luke 10:25-37 THE HOLY ROSARY HELPS US TO MEDITATE ON THE HISTORY OF OUR SALVATION

Today, we commemorate the memorial of Our Lady of the Rosary, a celebration that embodies perseverance and steadfastness in prayer. It marks the miraculous triumph of Christendom at the battle of Lepanto against the Turkish invasion of Christian territories, a victory attributed to the intercession of Our Lady, known as the ‘Succour of Christians’.

The Holy Rosary is a meditative prayer that directs our focus to the lives of Jesus, our savior, and Mary’s role in the plan of salvation. Through the Holy Rosary, we are encouraged to reflect on the history of our salvation and express gratitude to God, our Father, who hears and answers our prayers.

In today’s gospel, a lawyer sought to test our Lord by asking, “What must I do to inherit eternal life?” In response, Jesus recounted the parable of the Good Samaritan.

This narrative resonates with a well-known quote by St. Francis of Assisi, “The deeds you do may be the only sermon some persons will hear today.” The Good Samaritan’s act of compassion towards the victim of bandits serves as a testament to the requirement of loving our neighbor as a means of loving God, whom we cannot see.

By excluding individuals from our care and compassion, we perpetuate a cycle of indifference or retaliation, fostering a world devoid of empathy and kindness.
