Sylvester Oromoni: Davido, Funke Akindele, Other Celebrities Blast Dowen College

Nigerian celebrities have demanded justice for 12-year-old Junior Secondary School student, Sylvester Oromoni who died from internal injuries he sustained after an assault by fellow students.

Sylvester Oromoni’s death became public knowledge after a family member, identified as Perri, on Thursday posted the child’s ordeal on social media.

However, Dowen College Principal, Mrs. Adebisi Layiwola, in a statement denied any form of bullying or attack on the student.

The Lagos State government has shut down the school and ordered an investigation into the incident.

Gory details of the act have sparked outrage on social media with Nigerians demanding the arrests of the perpetrators.

The likes of Davido, Funke Akindele, Tonto Dikeh, Mercy Johnson-Okojie have taken to social media demanding justice for Sylvester.

They called out the authorities of Dowen college to reveal the truth surrounding Sylvester’s death.

Davido on his Twitter page wrote: “Justice for Sylvester.”

@Tonto Dike “Dear Dowen college, I have been informed I am coming I am just gathering all the facts and history of this misfortune then we will talk don’t go nowhere, our children can’t go to school to be great and end up 6 feet below. God forbid that not why we trust schools.

@Funke Akindele “This is sad I can’t comprehend it. Justice for Sylvester.”

@Adesuwa Wellington “This poor baby, can’t imagine what the family must be going through. Quick question, Is Dowen College still not going to give Sylvester’s family a real explanation about what happened to their son? I don’t want to hear any football story. Do they really think this is going to go away? Somebody’s child.”

@Mercy Johnson “You may need to check her page, she shared the boy’s picture and her reaction with the below caption. I could not bring myself to post the video, I haven’t even been able to watch it twice. I can’t imagine the pain this child felt, I cannot imagine. Sylvester’s life cannot be in vain, he cannot go like that.”

@UcheJombo “That football story was obviously ill-advised. Just waiting for Dowen college to give Sylvester’s family a real explanation about what REALLY happened to their son?

@BusolaDakolo “This thing called reputation protection is killing the sense of humanity. Don’t just shut down the school, the owner of Dowen College should reveal the truth.

@Mrmacaroni “This is so heartbreaking.”
