The Most Holy Trinity – Solemnity

Proverbs 8:22-31
Psalm 8:4-9
Romans 5:1-5
John 16:12-15

GOD IS LOVE THEREFORE LET US LOVE ONE ANOTHER

This Sunday is Trinity Sunday! It’s a day dedicated to exploring how God reveals Himself to us through Jesus Christ and the incredible gift of the Holy Spirit. We celebrate the amazing truth that our God is One in Three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit! Sure, it sounds complex—and indeed it is—but there’s a profound beauty in this mystery that resonates through time, perfectly captured in our second reading from Romans 5:1-5.

St. Paul tells us we are justified by faith, and he invites us to boast in our struggles. Why? Because those challenges lead to endurance, which shapes our character, and that character builds hope. And guess what? This hope doesn’t disappoint! It’s a powerful reminder that God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, transforming everything!

God is the epitome of perfect Love and Relationship, lovingly reaching beyond Himself to bring us into existence! Not only did He create us out of pure love, but He also gave us the priceless gift of free will—because true love must be offered freely. In an act of ultimate love, the Father sent the Son, who became incarnate through the Holy Spirit, to save us from sin and the fear of death, inviting us into a forever relationship with Him!

In our Gospel reading from John 16:12-15, Jesus shares this thrilling promise with His disciples: “I have so much more to share with you, but you’re not ready for it yet. But when the Spirit of truth comes, He will lead you into all truth… He will glorify me, taking what is mine and making it known to you.” Isn’t that exciting? The Holy Spirit is revealing God’s incredible, indescribable love to us!

The mystery of the Trinity propels us to remember that we were created out of love, made for love, and called to love! When we love as Jesus commanded – with the Spirit nudging us along – we are fully embracing our true identity as God’s beloved creation. Sure, loving deeply might bring its fair share of challenges as we empathize with those in pain, make sacrifices, and stand firm for justice and peace. But what a beautiful journey it is!

Having experienced such a profound love, let’s take it beyond ourselves—let’s love each other and the world with everything we’ve got!
