University Student Allegedly Stole Over $500,000 From Employer To Fund Lavish Lifestyle

A Lasell University student reportedly stole $500k from the company she works for just to live a luxurious life.

The Lasell University, a private university in Auburndale, Massachusetts, is currently trending for this act committed by one of their undergraduate. Authorities reportedly detained 19-year-old Lasell University student-athlete identified as Ariel Foster on Wednesday (Mar. 8) for allegedly defrauding the Burlington Mall jewelry store she worked part-time of six figures.

According to rumors, Ariel Foster would increase the cost of goods bought at the jewelry business Lovisa, return the money to her own credit card, and keep the difference. According to a news release from the police, across eight fraudulent transactions allegedly made by Foster, Lovisa lost a total of $547,187.

Also, it appears that the university student was leading a pretty opulent lifestyle with the stolen money. According to reports, her accounts showed that she spent $35,000 on a Tesla between February 2 and February 22, $6,000 on flights with Delta Airlines, over $20,000 on a hotel in Maui, and about $5,000 on Louis Vuitton goods.

Foster allegedly tried to buy $1 million from Lovisa before being apprehended, according to reports. It is claimed that she never completed or cleared the transaction. But when a coworker noticed the suspicious sum, they called the police.

Reporters learned this on Thursday from Burlington Police Chief Tom Browne (Mar. 9)

“Greed took over. I don’t know how else I would classify it. When I first saw the amount I thought it was a mistake.”

Before putting Foster into arrest without incident, police searched her Boston residence and the dorm room she was using at Lasell. She was subsequently granted bail and charged with stealing over $1,200. She was arraigned before the judge today (Mar. 10), and she was told to avoid the victims, the mall, and the store. In May, Foster will be back in court. She is reportedly facing a 5-year prison sentence if found guilty.
