Woman Allegedly Killed Her Lover Because She Was Fascinated With Serial Killers And S*x

A lady who was obsessed with serial killers and chains killed her on-and-off partner motivated by jealousy.

During her trial, it was revealed that Shaye Groves, 27, slit the throat of Frankie Fitzgerald, 25, while he was sleeping in her bed, then tried to pass himself off as the victim.

The defendants’ bedroom at their home in Havant, Hampshire, was equipped with a camera to capture them engaging in s*xual activity. The couple was interested in BDSM.

According to evidence presented at Winchester Crown Court, Groves had framed images of serial killers hanging on her walls, a library full of literature about gangsters, including renowned prisoner Charles Bronson, and a collection of real crime movies.

In the early hours of July 17, Mr. Fitzgerald, who had been in a six-month on-and-off relationship with the defendant, sustained a terrible knife wound to his neck.

The prosecution’s Steven Perian KC told the jury that “Her s*x life featured bondage, domination, submission, and masochism, or BDSM for short. Probably as a result of Frankie Fitzgerald’s performance in the bedroom, she developed an obsession with him.

The defendant is accused of repeatedly stabbing Frankie Fitzgerald with a knife in her bedroom on July 17, 2016, and then letting him die without trying to save him, according to the complaint. She is also accused of being manipulative, possessive, and jealous.

“The murder of Frankie Fitzgerald is very likely a crime of passion driven by her jealousy.”

Groves then attempted to present herself as a victim of Mr. Fitzgerald’s s*xual assault, according to Mr. Perian.

The court was informed that she confessed to the killing over video chat to a friend named Vicky Baitup and showed a picture of Mr. Fitzgerald who was covered in a duvet and had a serious neck wound.

Groves is reported to have admitted to the woman that she looked through Mr. Fitzgerald’s phone when he was asleep and “snapped” when she discovered that he had messaged a 13-year-old girl on Facebook.

“The defendant said to Vicky Baitup, ‘I just lost it. I just lost it I took my dagger and stabbed him in the neck,” Mr. Perian said.

According to the evidence presented to the jury, Ms. Baitup saw the defendant wiping a blood-spattered bookcase and was informed that Mr. Fitzgerald would be buried in the backyard.

That morning, Groves allegedly sent Ms. Baitup a message in which she claimed that because Mr. Fitzgerald had left her residence to walk home, she had concluded their relationship was finished.

A knife was found in the bathroom sink after Ms. Baitup called the police, who also discovered Mr. Fitzgerald’s body when they arrived, according to testimony given in court.

Groves told police that she had video of Mr. Fitzgerald raping and assaulting her and that he had tried to harm her, according to body-worn cameras.

Groves informed Ms. Baitup about a previous murder plot, and the jury was informed, thus Mr. Fitzgerald’s murder was preplanned.

“The Crown says it doesn’t matter whether Vicky Baitup thought it was a joke, but it provides an insight into this defendant’s mind of her ability to plan an attack on Frankie Fitzgerald and engineer a situation whereby she would be considered a victim,” he said.

“This is what we suggest she did when she killed Frankie Fitzgerald.”

Mr. Perian added: “Where would the defendant have got the insight from to plan the details of the attack and to make it look like she was the victim of an assault?

“The answer was provided by Vicky Baitup in her interview. The defendant has many gangster books like Charles Bronson in her bookcase. She has serial killer pictures all in frames on her wall and she watches murder documentaries.

“The Crown says that the defendant – by reading about and watching murder documentaries – she was familiar with crime scenes, how to create a false narrative, and how to set up a false alibi.

“The Crown say that when you hear the evidence during the trial, it is open to you to conclude that she deliberately set up a false narrative of being abused by Frankie Fitzgerald, a false alibi she sent to Vicky Baitup and was cleaning the crime scene having watched these documentaries.”

Post-mortem tests showed Mr. Fitzgerald “suffered catastrophic blood loss” from a knife wound to his neck and also had 17 stab wounds to his chest, which were inflicted as he was dying.

The jury watched video footage from the camera in Groves’s bedroom, which showed the defendant repeatedly screaming as Mr. Fitzgerald spanked her.

Groves sent three edited clips of that footage to Ms. Baitup, suggesting he was violent to her before raping her.

But police recovered the original footage, which Mr. Perian suggested portrays consensual s*x, the court heard.

“Vicky Baitup told police Frankie Fitzgerald wanted the CCTV in the bedroom taken down because Shaye Groves was holding the videos she had over his head because she kept on threatening to put them on Facebook and ruin his life,” Mr. Perian said.

“The Crown say that when the May 30 CCTV recordings are viewed in context, it contradicts the defendant’s account of the three short video clips she sent to Vicky Baitup saying there had been non-consensual s*xual violence by Frankie Fitzgerald on her.

“It also contracts what she told the police – that he had tried to attack her and it was not the first time and she had video footage of him raping and beating her.”

Groves, of Botley Drive in Havant, who also goes by the surname Corrigan, denies murder.
