Gunmen Kill Two Chinese Nationals And Police Officer In Abia

Two individuals from China and a law enforcement officer lost their lives when armed assailants ambushed their convoy in Uturu, Isuikwuato LGA, Abia on the evening of Friday, April 5.

While speaking to journalists, Maureen Chinaka, the command’s spokesperson, confirmed that the attack occurred as the victims were traveling to a company location at Agukwu-Amaya in the Ndundu community.

“The manager, Mr. Quan, his colleague Mr. Cai, and Inspector Audu Saidu, one of the escort officers, were killed. The assailants also carted away the Inspector Saidu’s rifle.”

She explained that a distress call was promptly received, triggering a unified response involving the police, military personnel, and additional security forces.

“Upon receiving the information, operatives from the Abia State Command, in a joint operation with the military and other sister agencies, launched a search mission. As a result, three Chinese expatriates were rescued unhurt, while one sustained injuries. Inspector Uba Ahmed, who was also rescued, suffered gunshot injury on his leg,” she said.

According to the police spokesperson, the wounded expatriate and the injured officer were transported to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), where they are presently undergoing medical care.

She mentioned that on Saturday, a tactical team led by the deputy commissioner of police (operations) inspected the location of the incident.

“Through collaborative action involving police, the military, and local community members, Inspector Ijeagwa Friday was also rescued unhurt,” Chinaka said.

She emphasized that an investigation is underway, with measures being implemented to locate the perpetrators and ensure they face justice.

Chinaka stated that Danladi Isa, the state’s commissioner of police, has promised the public that those responsible will face consequences.

“He urged residents to remain security conscious, go about their lawful activities without fear, and support the police by reporting any suspicious persons, vehicles, or activities to the nearest Police Station or call the following Command’s emergency lines: 08035415405, 08079210004, 08079210005, 08079210006,” she added.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
