Communicating from the Heart

Communicating from the Heart

One day, a man and his wife had a disagreement, and their 5-year-old daughter overheard everything. After the argument, she approached her mother with some advice, saying, “Mommy, you need to show more respect to Daddy and not speak to him that way.” Then, she went to her father and repeated her message, adding a profound insight: “Daddy, your brain is broken. You need to learn to speak from your heart.” This situation reflects a broader truth about our condition.

Our minds can be flawed. When we speak negatively about each other, it often stems from our minds not functioning properly. Engaging in arguments, holding grudges, and criticizing one another indicates that we are not communicating from a place of sincerity but rather from our flawed thinking. As someone once noted, the mind can be a powerful tool, but it can also be a poor leader. The devil influences us through our minds, whereas God guides us through our hearts. The broken mind and the transformed heart offer contrasting views on life—one leads to death and the other to life. We should be aware when our thoughts divert us from love and understanding.

The words of the little girl serve as a gentle nudge to remind us to communicate with sincerity and respect. We must learn to speak from our hearts, allowing the Light of Christ to illuminate our thoughts and actions.
