Ruger Opens Up About Traumatic First Heartbreak

Nigerian musician Ruger, whose real name is Michael Adebayo Olayinka, has talked candidly about the psychological damage caused by his first breakup when he was just six years old.

The Toma Toma hitmaker recalled the incident that left him severely traumatized and shared this personal experience during a recent episode of The Bro Bants show.

Ruger claims that the first time he experienced heartbreak, an older woman he thought of as his girlfriend showed him love by referring to him as “my boyfriend.”

“I got heartbroken because one day, I saw some guy smashing her through her window. The guy was tearing her up, bro. I cried. I was traumatised,” Ruger recounted.

“I started singing Imagine That by Styl-Plus. That was what started my toxicity. That experience broke my heart.”

It’s confusing and inappropriate: These terms are for romantic relationships between adults. Using them with children blurs boundaries and can create confusion about what these relationships mean.
