Two Suspects Arrested Over Alleged Possession Of Counterfeit $899,800

The Kano Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has initiated a probe into two individuals apprehended with counterfeit $899,800 (Eight Hundred and Ninety-Nine Thousand, Eight Hundred United States of America Dollars).

The individuals, named Abubakar Hussaini (42) and Sahabi Adamu (53), were first intercepted by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, along Maiduguri Road, Wudil, Kano State. They were traveling in a commercial Golf 3 Station Wagon car, heading toward Kila Village in Gwaram Local Government Area, LGA, of Jigawa State.

During a search, the NDLEA team uncovered the suspected fake notes hidden inside a Maggi Star seasoning carton. The suspects and the seized items were then transferred to the EFCC for further investigation.

Initial findings indicate that the suspects were transporting the counterfeit currency to Kila Village to meet one Muhammad Walo, who was to connect them with Mallam Mashiru, a self-proclaimed spiritualist claiming to be capable of “transforming” counterfeit dollars into genuine currency through ritual prayers.

The commission states that the suspects will face court proceedings upon the completion of the investigations.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
