Goodgirl LA Shares Personal Struggles And Inspiration Behind Her Music

GoodGirl LA, a Nigerian singer and songwriter, has talked about how her battle with depression altered her life.

Goodgirl LA revealed that she had been battling depression for a while on her X page on Thursday.

“I had periods of unavoidable isolation and just shit, so I charged it. And I focused on self-mastery and transmutation, all the while saying no to certain opportunities that nggas would kill for because I stand for something. I know what I want and where I’m going, and I won’t sell my soul just to belong and keep up appearances. Nggas called me crazy lol but I am—I’m a f*cking genius,”.

“In that period, my ‘friends’ started to look down on me and pretty much just shenked me. Bruh, even my own parents did too and called me a failure. It changed my view on what’s really important. I’ve seen how the world treats a young girl that’s tryna achieve greatness. The cheers and boos aren’t what any of this is about. It’s really all about art, touching my Gs and the world,” she wrote

We are glad to know that you are feeling better.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
