17-Year-Old Girl Beaten To De@th By Father And Stepmother

A 38-year-old woman and the biological father of a teenager have been detained following the savage assault and subsequent death of the 17-year-old girl in Nyanga, eastern Zimbabwe.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the apprehension of Maria Chibego, the victim’s stepmother, and Chakupiwa Kamupira, her biological father, in relation to the death of Rumbidzai Kamupira on 14 July 2025.

In a statement shared on X, the police reported that the victim was attacked with open hands and a switch by Maria Chibego after she did not return home to sleep on 13 July. Chakupiwa Kamupira participated in the assault, also employing a switch.

“The victim died upon admission at a local clinic,” the statement said.

Rumbidzai collapsed and was hurriedly taken to a clinic but was declared dead upon arrival. Authorities did not reveal where the teenager had been the previous night, and investigations into the matter are continuing. Neither of the accused has submitted a plea.

The incident has stunned the local community, with many voicing shock and disbelief over the events leading to the teenager’s tragic death.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
