An emotionally charged scene unfolded this week at the Akure Customary Court as Mrs. Folakemi Adebayo took the stand to level shocking accusations against her ex-husband, Mr. Emmanuel Oyebanji, and the divorce lawyer who represented them.
In a moment that captured the courtroom’s attention, Folakemi burst into tears, claiming that Emmanuel had secretly tied the knot with the very lawyer she once trusted to help navigate their divorce. “She ruined my settlement! I believed she would be impartial, not having an affair with my husband!” Folakemi exclaimed, her voice filled with anguish. Her allegations painted a picture of betrayal, as she insisted that the relationship began while their divorce proceedings were still in motion and even questioned the integrity of the legal outcomes she received.
Desperate for justice, Folakemi urged the court to reevaluate the divorce judgment and to investigate the lawyer for what she termed “serious professional misconduct.”
In stark contrast, Mr. Emmanuel responded with an air of calmness, vehemently denying Folakemi’s claims. He defended himself by recounting how Folakemi had distanced herself from their marriage shortly after tying the knot. “I only sought comfort with someone who understood my struggles,” he stated, emphasizing that his relationship with the lawyer blossomed only after their divorce was final.
The lawyer, present in the courtroom, also stood her ground, firmly denying any wrongdoing. “Our interactions were strictly professional throughout the divorce,” she asserted, maintaining her composure as whispers and gasps rippled through the audience.
After hearing from all parties involved, Presiding Judge Ireti Sunday delivered a decisive ruling, stating that the court could not rely on mere suspicion. “This court cannot act on suspicion alone. There is no evidence before us to suggest any conspiracy or professional misconduct between Mr. Emmanuel and the lawyer during the divorce process,” she declared firmly.
With that, the case was dismissed for lack of evidence, leaving a courtroom full of spectators pondering the shocking drama that had just unfolded.

What does she care? She had wanted a divorce, yes.
Was she planning on remarrying same person she was divorcing?
If she’s uncomfortable with the discovery,it simply means she still cares for her marriage.Let her cancel the divorce and work on her marriage again.there could still be hope.
