183 Suspected Internet Fraudsters Arrested As Nigerian Army Raids ‘Yahoo Training Centre’ In Delta

The Headquarters 63 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 1 Joint Task Force, (South-South) Operation Delta Safe (OPDS) has apprehended 183 suspected internet fraudsters during a raid on a Yahoo training facility in Warri, Delta State.

Captain Iliyasu Bawa Rijau, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 63 Brigade in Asaba, revealed this in a statement, noting that the operation took place on July 19, 2025, based on intelligence regarding the suspects’ activities.

“The suspects, all males between the ages of 16 and 29, were arrested in some apartments that served as an internet fraud training center within the area. Items recovered from the suspects include 274 assorted laptops, 87 assorted mobile phones, 9 laptop chargers, 1 table phone, and 2 WiFi devices, the statement read.

“The suspects and the recovered items are currently on preliminary investigation and necessary action. The Nigerian Army assures the public that it will continue to work tirelessly to rid the society of cybercrime and other forms of criminality.”

The Commander of the 63 Brigade/Sector 1 Joint Task Force, Operation Delta Safe, Brigadier General MA Shonibare, praised the troops for their professionalism and commitment in executing the operation.

He encouraged the public to keep supporting the military’s efforts to ensure peace and security in the region.
