Nollywood Actress Blessing Nze Shares How A Director Once Told Her She Was Too Ugly To Act

Blessing Nze, a Nigerian actress, has described a traumatic moment in her career when a well-known Nollywood director informed her she was too ugly to be on screen.

In an interview with Saturday Punch, she reflected on her career in film and said this. She claims that although the director’s remarks deeply affected her, they did not deter her from moving forward.

Blessing said: “I even remember when a popular director I deeply respected once told me I was too ugly to be in front of the camera. But look at me now.”

She also addressed the buzz surrounding the age difference between her and her husband, Stan Nze.

The mother of one said she finds it amusing how people exaggerate their age gap online.

She said: “There is no age difference in marriage. We are married so we are one. I see all kinds of things and laugh. I honour my husband as my priest and father figure.

“Besides, it’s not all those ridiculous years on the Internet. It is just two years difference, but all those things do not matter. Age is just a number. Even when we were dating, it was never up for a conversation.”

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
