Tinubu Honors Super Falcons With National Awards, Cash Gifts, And Houses

Following their historic victory in the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has presented Nigeria’s winning Super Falcons with national awards, cash gifts, and homes.

Tinubu said at a special luncheon on Monday at the State House in Abuja that each of the 24 players who helped Nigeria win its 10th WAFCON championship following a thrilling comeback victory over hosts Morocco would get the National Honor of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).

Each player received a $100,000 cash incentive, a fully equipped three-bedroom condominium, and the national honor. Not to be overlooked were the technical crew members of the team, who each received $50,000 in recognition of their strategic contribution to the historic win.

Prior to their meeting with the President, the team was greeted warmly by the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, and the Vice President’s wife, Nana Shettima.

The festivities follow the Falcons’ amazing 3–2 triumph in Rabat, where they overcame a two-goal deficit to defeat Morocco and win the continental championship.

The players, administrators, and stakeholders in attendance cheered loudly when the honors and prizes were presented, and many praised the President’s action as a significant boost for women’s sports in Nigeria.

As he urged young Nigerians to be inspired by the Falcons’ achievements, Tinubu also promised more funding for sports development, specifically in women’s football.
