Inspired by the unique styles of Nkem Owoh, King Sunny Ade, Prince Nico Mbarga, and Chief Festus Okotie-Eboh, Ebuka honored Nigerian music and film luminaries during the two inaugural nights last week.
He effortlessly pulled off each appearance, which was a deliberate homage to their history and legacy.
The late Oliver De Coque, the renowned monarch of highlife and ogene music, served as the inspiration for tonight’s ensemble, which is in in keeping with the concept of honoring cultural pioneers.
Before his death in 2008, Oliver De Coque, who was well-known for his unique sound and prolific productivity, had out 93 albums.
This evening, Ebuka’s attire tends toward classic elegance. He is dressed in a deep burgundy jacket that is intricately embroidered in gold thread with circular and geometric designs.
The intricate designs and decorations on the jacket showcase the artistry of traditional African handicraft. He creates a unified and thoughtful ensemble by wearing the jacket underneath a somewhat loose pair of pants and a matching burgundy top.
Tradition is still deeply ingrained in his accessories. He wears coral beads around his neck and a crimson hat on his head.
Aviator sunglasses give him a contemporary edge, and the fur stole perched on one arm exudes understated luxury.
