The 2025 Ballon d’Or will have a new winner for the second consecutive year after Rodri was left off of the Paris Saint-Germain-dominated list of 30 contenders that was announced on Thursday.
By the time the Manchester City midfielder received the 2024 award in October, he had already had his season ended by a knee ligament injury.
Cristiano Ronaldo, the five-time champion, and Lionel Messi, who took home the final of his eight honors in 2023, are not included on the list.
PSG, which won the Champions League with a landslide victory, has nine nominees.
Four players represent Barcelona, who won a Spanish league and cup double. The youngest is 18-year-old Lamine Yamal, while the oldest is 36-year-old Robert Lewandowski.
The winner will be unveiled on September 22 at the Ballon d’Or ceremony.
