Federal Government Disburses N5.12 Billion in Pension Arrears to 90,689 Retirees

The Federal Government has cleared N5.12 billion in pension arrears owed to 90,689 retirees under the Defined Benefit Scheme. The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) finalized the disbursement, impacting pensioners across four departments.

Breakdown of Payments:

  • Civil Service Pension Department (CSPD): 12,773 pensioners received N408,736 each for one month’s arrears
  • Parastatals Pension Department (PAPD): 59,609 pensioners received N3,814,976 each for two months’ arrears
  • Nigeria Customs Service, Immigration Service, and Prisons Pension Department (CIPPD): 8,626 pensioners received N276,032 each for one month’s arrears
  • Police Pension Department (PPD): 9,681 pensioners received N619,584 each for two months’ arrears

Government’s Commitment:

The payment reaffirms President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s commitment to ensuring pensioners receive their due entitlements, aligning with the Renewed Hope Agenda. This move demonstrates the government’s dedication to pensioners’ welfare and aims to alleviate financial hardships faced by retirees.
