In a remarkable display of grassroots empowerment and solidarity, the Executives of Chioma Abia Political Structure on Friday presented a brand-new tricycle (popularly known as Keke) to one of its dedicated members, Mrs. Chibuzor Umeonyirimba, at the council headquarters in Eziama-Aba.
The gesture came as a direct response to her request and was made possible through the collective efforts of the group’s members and beneficiaries of the Federal Government’s Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDITCORP) program, executed in partnership with Syriamo Technologies Limited.
Earlier in June 2025, the CREDITCORP initiative stormed Ariaria International Market, Aba, where thousands of traders were granted affordable loans at a slashed interest rate of 50%. Among the first beneficiaries were five members of Chioma Abia Political Structure. In the spirit of unity and empowerment, these beneficiaries, together with the Executives, pooled resources to purchase the tricycle as a sustainable means of livelihood for Mrs. Umeonyirimba.
The empowerment, beyond being a symbol of solidarity, reflects the growing impact of the Federal Government’s consumer credit policy on ordinary citizens and underscores the determination of Chioma Abia Political Structure to uplift its members economically.
Speaking to the press after the presentation, the Leader of Chioma Abia Political Structure, Abia South Zone, Hon. Okeoma Nwaogbe, affirmed that this is only one of many gestures targeted at dedicated members who continue to align with the transformational leadership of Governor Alex Chioma Otti. He assured that come 2027, Governor Otti will be re-elected to consolidate on his people-focused governance, stressing that the Chioma Abia Political Structure has already adopted “Nkweta Ndíre” as its mantra for the 2027 elections.
Mrs. Umeonyirimba, overwhelmed with joy, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Executives and members for the life-changing support, pledging to make effective use of the tricycle to improve her livelihood. Assurances were also given that all necessary documentation, including her registration with the Abia State Tricycle Operators Union (ASTOPU), Aba Zone, would be completed promptly to enable her to commence operations without delay.
The event attracted several notable figures within the structure, including the Councillor representing Eziukwu Ward 1 under Aba South, Hon. Kingsley Nwachukwu; Supervisory Councillor for Health in Aba North, Hon. Chukwugirim Hilary Chukwugozie; Supervisory Councillor for Education in Aba North, Hon. Chioma Onyenwe; and the Women Leader of Chioma Abia Political Structure, Aba North Chapter, Lady Star Nkiruka Ejiogu, among others.
The empowerment drive stands as a testimony to the group’s philosophy of “rising by lifting others,” as members continue to support one another while aligning with government-led initiatives aimed at grassroots economic inclusion.
