Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner Phyna’s sister, Ruth Otabor, has sadly passed away.
She died after a terrible collision with a Dangote vehicle close to Auchi Polytechnic in Edo State.
Ruth passed away on Sunday at around 6:30 a.m., according to a statement released by Eko Solicitors & Advocates, which was used by the family to announce her death.
“With a heavy heart, the family regrets to announce the passing on to glory of their daughter, sister, and mother on this 31st Day of August, 2025 at about 06:30Hrs,” the statement read.
“The family is presently grieving and will appreciate to be given a private moment to mourn the departed.
“The funeral arrangement will be communicated to the public in due course,” the statement added.
The incident took place six days after Ruth’s graduation from the polytechnic, on August 13, 2025, leading to the amputation of her leg.
Witnesses said that the large truck smashed her leg before a bystander finally pulled it over.
In addition to accusing the corporation of incompetence, Phyna had been demanding justice for her sister and vowed not to allow the issue to be ignored.
In addition to pledging full medical care and suitable compensation to grieve her loss and demand justice, Dangote Group has acknowledged responsibility for the event.
