Donald Trump’s physician announced that the 79-year-old US president is in “excellent overall health” after undergoing a follow-up medical examination on Friday, October 10.
Trump visited Walter Reed National Military Medical Center for what his doctor, Navy Captain Sean Barbabella, described as a “scheduled follow-up evaluation” and a “part of his ongoing health maintenance plan.” This marked Trump’s second medical checkup of the year.
A letter issued by the White House corroborated the favorable evaluation. The physician’s report noted that “President Trump continues to demonstrate excellent overall health,” displaying “strong cardiovascular, pulmonary, neurological and physical performance.” A significant finding was that his “cardiac age”, a measure of cardiovascular vitality, was determined to be approximately 14 years younger than his chronological age of 79.
The doctor further stated that Trump “continues to maintain a demanding daily schedule without restriction.” During the visit, he also underwent a series of routine tests, received an updated Covid booster shot, and got his annual flu shot.
The examination occurred amid ongoing public speculation regarding the president’s health. The visit follows the White House’s revelation in July that Trump was diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, a common, benign vein condition in older adults that was identified as the cause of swelling in his legs.
Separately, bruising on his hand was attributed to “minor soft tissue irritation from frequent handshaking and aspirin use,” which is part of a standard cardiovascular prevention regimen.
Addressing earlier concerns, Trump stated that during his previous checkup in April, he took a cognitive exam and received a “perfect score.”
