Court Orders Hisbah To Marry Off Kano TikTokers Over ‘Indecent’ Videos

A Magistrate Court located in Kano has instructed the Kano State Hisbah Board to arrange the wedding of well-known TikTok influencers, Idris Mai Wushirya and Basira Yar Guda, within a period of 60 days.

The directive came after their recent featuring in viral videos considered “indecent” by the Kano State Films and Video Censorship Board.

Overseeing the case on Monday, October 20, 2025, Magistrate Halima Wali cautioned that not carrying out the marriage within the specified period would result in being charged with contempt of court.

The court further required the Chairman of the Kano State Films and Video Censorship Board to supervise the execution of the marriage directive.

The Censorship Board insisted that the videos breached state regulations against creating and spreading s3xually suggestive or obscene content.

The pair was brought before the court not long ago for supposedly making and sharing the videos across social media platforms.

The videos, which gained massive popularity on the internet, depicted the pair performing romantic actions.

The videos were labeled by officials as opposing the moral and religious principles observed in the state.

Mai Wushirya had previously been held in a correctional center after the footage of him without a shirt and performing what officials called “immoral and demeaning acts” spread rapidly online.

His collaborator, Yar Guda, was likewise interrogated by the board’s enforcement officers prior to the case being handed over to the court.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
