Nyesom Wike Reacts To PDP Expulsion

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has responded to the announcement of his expulsion alongside former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He referred to the development as “Detty December in November” arriving ahead of schedule.

In a statement issued to the media on Saturday, the Special Assistant to the FCT Minister on Public Communications and Social Media explained that certain PDP members had rushed to the convention venue to kick off their festivities well before the actual December period, stressing that any pronouncements coming from that assembly should be understood within the atmosphere of a heavily intoxicated social gathering.

“They went to start their own Detty December in November. When people decide to start their Dirty December early, one can’t help but ignore whatever comes out of their mouths,” he said.

He further stated that the assemblage was essentially a purely social occasion and that, after consuming alcohol liberally, participants were “free to say anything,” suggesting that their declarations should not be regarded with any seriousness.

Earlier on Saturday, it was reported that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) formally expelled the immediate past Governor of Rivers State and incumbent Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, the factional National Secretary of the party, Samuel Anyanwu, and former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, from its membership on grounds of anti-party activities.

The motion seeking their expulsion, which received unanimous approval from party members present at the ongoing PDP National Convention, was moved by one of the founding members of the party and seconded by a sitting State Governor.

It would be recalled that multiple court orders had been issued restraining the PDP from proceeding with the convention, including a fresh one served on Friday, with several prominent party figures, among them a former Senate President, publicly calling on the Damagum-led faction of the PDP to respect the court injunctions and refrain from actions likely to cause the implosion of the party.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
