President Bola Tinubu has nominated Victor Ikeji to replace Obinna Oriaku as the Federal Character Commissioner for Abia State, pending confirmation by the Senate. This move follows Oriaku’s appointment as commissioner in October, representing Abia State in the Federal Character Commission (FCC).

Ikeji’s nomination is part of Tinubu’s efforts to ensure equitable representation and inclusivity in federal appointments. The Senate Committee on Federal Character and Inter-Governmental Relations will review Ikeji’s nomination and report back within one week.
Oriaku, a former Abia State Commissioner for Finance, was recognized for his fiscal discipline and transparency in public finance management. His appointment was welcomed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing his competence and commitment to public service.
