No Bangers This Christmas: Delta Police Crack Down on Fireworks

The Delta State Police Command has issued a stern warning against the use, sale, and display of fireworks, including popular items like “knock-outs” and “bangers,” ahead of the festive season. Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, emphasized that the ban is aimed at preventing criminal activities often associated with the misuse of fireworks.

The police are concerned that loud noises from fireworks can be exploited by criminals to create panic and carry out illegal activities. Residents are urged to report any incidents of fireworks usage or illegal sales to the nearest police station or through the command’s designated control room numbers.

Key Points:

  • Ban on Fireworks: The Delta State Police Command has banned the use, sale, and display of fireworks, including knock-outs and bangers.
  • Reason: To prevent criminal activities and maintain public safety.
  • Action: Residents are urged to report incidents to the police, and violators will face arrest and prosecution.
  • Cooperation: Parents and guardians are advised to caution their children and wards against using these items.

The police command appreciates the cooperation of Deltans and wishes everyone a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
