Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara’s assistant, Darlington Orji, has declared that his principal will not be impeached.
Orji clarified that the State House of Assembly’s accusations against Fubara are false, hence the impeachment will not succeed.
Orji stated that only the Assembly can provide an explanation for Fubara’s wrongdoing and the purported cash embezzlement during an appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show.
He said: “I can tell you for free that this process will not scale through because there is no truth in it. And like you said, it is only them that can interpret when there is misappropriation or gross misconduct.
“Yes, because you will also agree with me that so many courts in the land too have also ignored so many impeachment processes because they didn’t follow the procedure.
“So for us, what I can tell you, I’m not a member of the House, but I can tell you because I’m on ground, I can tell you because we reached out to so many of them. Many of them are my friends, and we have always worked together before now.
“This process, they are not happy on what they are doing. And I’m sure that before the end of the day and within the upper week, this process will be completely put to rest.”
