Members of the Joint Unions Action Committee (JUAC) and the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) attempted to intercept FCT Minister Nyesom Wike’s convoy as he left the FCTA Secretariat through the back gate. This move comes as part of the ongoing protest by FCT workers over unpaid allowances, unresolved salary issues, and the protracted strike by FCT primary school teachers.
The workers have been on strike since June 2025, demanding the sacking of the FCT Civil Service Commission Chairman, Emeka Ezeh, and resolution of their grievances. Wike has taken the unions to court, seeking an order to restrain them from picketing, obstructing, or disrupting activities of the FCT administration. Despite the court action, JUAC has vowed to continue the strike.
