The First Cry — A Moment Every Mother Never Forgets

You’ve probably heard other mothers share their experiences of their first pregnancy, labor, and delivery. It’s often said that every mother has her own unique story. So it’s perfectly normal if, as a newlywed or a bride-to-be, you carry that quiet, lingering curiosity deep in your heart:

What will it feel like to be pregnant? What will the journey be like? How will it feel to hold my baby for the first time?

And then one day, it happens.

When the test reads positive—or the doctor smiles and says, “Congratulations, madam, you’re pregnant”—you feel a rush of emotions: joy, shock, fear, excitement, and gratitude all at once.

At first, you may ask yourself if it’s even real. But soon, your body begins to tell the story. You start to notice the fatigue, the strange cravings for fruits or food you never imagined liking, the mood swings. There’s the backache, the soreness, the discomfort in your legs or lower abdomen. And in the middle of it all, you start wondering—what will my baby look like? Whose eyes will they have? What will their voice sound like?

Then comes the D-Day.

After hours of labor—filled with pain, prayers, and anticipation—you finally hear it: the first cry. That cry that fills the delivery room, changes everything. And just like that, the pain gives way to joy. A deep, indescribable love fills your heart for this little miracle of God that came from inside of you.

Then your baby is placed in your arms. You are holding your first baby…You look down, and your eyes beam with excitement. Tears of joy run down your cheeks. It’s a great moment, a moment of joy and thanksgiving. A moment of heartfelt gratitude to God for seeing you through it all.

At that moment, nothing else matters, because in your arms is love made visible. It’s a moment worth celebrating, A moment only God could orchestrate.

And through your joyful tears, you whisper, “Thank You, Lord, for making this day.”

Because from that moment on… you’re no longer just a woman. You are a Mother.

To every mum pouring out from a place of love—your sacrifices are seen, your love is felt. Keep going, you’re doing great.♥️
