UNIJOS Exams Rescheduled Amidst Security Concerns in Jos

The University of Jos (UNIJOS) has postponed examinations scheduled for Monday, March 30, and Tuesday, March 31, 2026, due to security concerns following a deadly attack in Angwan Rukuba, an area accommodating many staff and students.

The decision was announced by Emmanuel Madugu, Deputy Registrar of Information and Public Relations, who urged students and staff to prioritize safety and remain vigilant. The Plateau State Government has imposed a 24-hour curfew in Jos North Local Government Area in response to the incident.

The university management is actively liaising with security agencies to ensure the safety of lives within the university community. Students and staff are advised to avoid leaving their homes early in the morning and report any breach of public peace immediately to the University Security Division.

The attack, which occurred on Sunday night, has resulted in an unspecified number of casualties, with gunmen riding motorcycles shooting and killing youths in the area. The Plateau State Government has expressed concern over the incident and vowed to intensify efforts to apprehend the perpetrators.

UNIJOS has assured students and staff that the rescheduled examinations will be communicated in due course. The university management has also directed the closure of hostels as part of broader safety measures.

The incident highlights the ongoing security challenges in Plateau State, with several attacks reported in recent months.
