Morocco Cheers As US-Iran Ceasefire Sparks Hope

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates said in a statement on Wednesday that the Kingdom of Morocco has welcomed the announcement of a ceasefire between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to the statement, “The Kingdom of Morocco supports the forthcoming negotiations with Pakistani facilitation and hopes that these negotiations will lead to lasting peace, strengthen stability in the region, and take into account the higher interests of the brotherly Arab countries of the Gulf.”

The Kingdom of Morocco emphasizes how crucial it is to ensure that international maritime law is followed when navigating the Strait of Hormuz.

A two-week ceasefire between Iran and the US has been agreed upon, and negotiations to complete a peace agreement will start in Pakistan on Friday.

Pledges to resume operations in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the most important energy chokepoints in the world, accompany the decision.

Along with other nations, the EU and UN also applauded the ceasefire.

In order to “pave the way toward a lasting and comprehensive peace in the region,” UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres urged all sides to abide by the ceasefire.

The ceasefire was also welcomed by Gulf nations, who hoped it would result in a long-term resolution.
