Osinbajo Shares Pivotal Experience That Led Him To Abandon Alcohol

Yemi Osinbajo, a former vice president of Nigeria, has talked about his own experience of giving up alcohol entirely.

Speaking in a video from a recent church program, he clarified that even though he had become a born-again Christian and was already working as a preacher, he still occasionally drank alcohol at the time because he thought it was harmless. He claimed that he frequently used the biblical story of Jesus turning water into wine as justification.

He claims that after conducting a Sunday service, he made the decision to quit. After that, he went to a restaurant to get some alcohol, but as soon as he entered, he saw something strange: several patrons were hiding their bottles and glasses as soon as they saw him.

He claimed that the experience unnerved him and caused him to think carefully about the significance of his role as a Christian leader and the example his personal behavior set for others.

He said that after giving it some thought, he came to the conclusion that although some things might be acceptable, they are not always advantageous or uplifting. He claimed that after that, he made the firm decision to completely give up alcohol, a decision he has stuck to for years, even during an incident he mentioned in Mogadishu.

He emphasized the significance of coordinating one’s private conduct with one’s public beliefs, describing the choice as a pivotal moment that reinforced his faith and changed his personal discipline.

In sharing his transformative experience, Osinbajo highlights the profound impact that moments of self-reflection and life-changing realizations can have on our paths.

His decision to quit alcohol underscores the importance of making conscious choices for personal growth and well-being. His story serves as an inspiring reminder that even in moments of difficulty, there is an opportunity for positive change and renewal.
