Pastor Dolapo Lawal Sparks Buzz Over Nigerians Trading Property For Care Jobs Abroad

Dolapo Lawal, the lead pastor of Zoe Household Global, has advised Nigerians against moving overseas due to unhealthy comparisons, irrational expectations, and material desire.

Speaking at a sermon on Sunday, Lawal criticized the fixation with “Japa,” the colloquial term for emigrating, and claimed that covetousness is the driving force behind many bad decisions made in search of better opportunities.

He said that covetousness is one of the things that God hates and connected it to choices that leave people stranded overseas.

He said, “It is covetousness that will make somebody sell their property in Nigeria and go to do a care job in America. Foolish thinking!”

“Because you are seeing people in the UK taking pictures, you think they are okay? Now you go there, you are stranded there, and you cannot come back because of shame. Meanwhile, you are coveting that life. They will save money for 10 months to come and spend here.”

Pastor Dolapo Lawal’s critique highlights the importance of valuing our assets and exploring genuine opportunities within Nigeria rather than resorting to risky sacrifices abroad. His call for Nigerians to prioritize their homeland’s growth and stability serves as a reminder to seek sustainable and meaningful development.

Embracing local opportunities and investing in our own communities can lead to a more prosperous and self-reliant Nigeria, inspiring citizens to rethink their choices and work towards a brighter future for the nation.
