In honor of Eid, the Federal Government has proclaimed Wednesday, May 27, and Thursday, May 28, 2026, to be public holidays.
Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo made the announcement.
The government said in a statement signed by Dr. Magdalene Ajani, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, that the declaration highlights its respect for the spiritual heritage and faith of millions of Nigerian Muslims who are joining the global Islamic community in celebrating the holy holiday.
“The Federal Government urges all Nigerians to use this period for prayer and sober reflection, asking for divine guidance upon the country as it continues its pursuit of peace, security, and prosperity for every citizen.
“It is in the spirit of brotherhood, shared humanity, and national unity that the Federal Government wishes all Muslims a peaceful, blessed, and joyous celebration,” the statement said.
We wish everyone a joyful and blessed Eid. May this special time bring happiness, peace, and prosperity to you and your loved ones. Stay safe, celebrate responsibly, and enjoy the holiday to the fullest!
Live with Purpose, Love with Passion. Remember to be happy
