Trump Claims Mideast Peace Deal is Within Reach

In a bold statement on Tuesday, President Trump declared that negotiators are in the “final throes” of securing a peace deal in the Middle East. This announcement comes on the heels of both Iran and Israel agreeing to halt new hostilities that have the potential to reignite a conflict that has already dragged on for months.

Trump, who has frequently insisted that a resolution with Tehran is just around the corner, acknowledged that while progress has been slow, both sides have shown willingness to ease tensions. “Iran and Israel were going back and forth, but now, thanks to my efforts, they’ve agreed to stop. We’re on the brink of what looks to be a very, very good deal,” he told reporters after enjoying the excitement of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden.

When pressed on the timeline for the agreement, he confidently stated it would be ready in “two or three days.”

However, the situation remains precarious. Tehran has insisted that any deal must include Lebanon, where Israel has been actively confronting Iranian-backed Hezbollah. Just this past Sunday, Iran launched missiles at Israel, prompting a retaliatory strike despite U.S. calls for restraint.

After a brief back-and-forth of military action, Iran announced its intention to cease hostilities, while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu assured the public that the situation on that front was under control. Yet, Tehran has warned it will retaliate if Israel continues its strikes in Lebanon. Netanyahu, in response, issued a stern warning: if Iran “makes the mistake of resuming attacks against us, we will respond with full force.”

The stakes are high, and the world watches closely as crucial negotiations unfold.
