*3 Crashes, 3 Injured, No Deaths: Overnight Road Accidents Rock Lagos As LASEMA Responds*
Three separate road incidents occurred in different parts of Lagos State in the early hours of Saturday, leaving *three people injured* but no fatalities, the *Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA*, has confirmed.
LASEMA, in a statement by its Head of Public Affairs, *Afolabi Olawale*, said emergency responders rescued victims, recovered affected vehicles, and restored traffic flow at all three locations.
The first incident occurred at about *12:07 am* when a truck conveying granite developed a fault after its rear tyre became trapped in a pothole at *Olupese Bus Stop inward Oshodi*.
According to LASEMA, preliminary investigations revealed that the poor condition of the road contributed to the breakdown.
No injuries or fatalities were reported.
LASEMA’s *Eagle Response Team* immediately diverted traffic and deployed its heavy-duty recovery equipment, *Super Metro*, to remove the truck.
Barely an hour later, at about *12:59 am*, a *Toyota Sienna with registration number ABJ-515DQ* collided with an oncoming truck at *Aswani Bus Stop*.
The impact caused the truck to veer off the road and become stuck on a culvert.
Three persons — *two women and one man* — sustained injuries in the crash. They received immediate medical attention from responders before being taken to hospital by the *Lagos State Ambulance Service, LASAMBUS*.
LASEMA said the truck was later extracted with the Super Metro and handed over to *LASTMA*, while the Sienna was released to officers from the *Aswani Police Station* after recovery operations.
Another accident was recorded at about *1:19 am* involving a *Ministry of Environment concrete mixer truck* and a *green Volkswagen bus with registration number FKJ 424KA* on *Oba Ogunji Road, Ikeja*.
Preliminary findings indicated that *excessive speeding by the Volkswagen bus* caused the collision.
No injuries or fatalities were recorded. Both vehicles were removed from the roadway after emergency responders carried out mechanical repairs on the mixer truck.
Commenting on the incidents, the Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, *Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu*, commended the coordinated efforts of all responding agencies and urged motorists to drive responsibly.
“The *Sanwo-Olu administration* remains committed to zero tolerance for loss of life on Lagos roads,” he said.
“The synergy between *LASEMA, LASAMBUS, LASTMA, the police*, and other stakeholders ensured that these incidents were managed with minimal impact. We will continue to invest in equipment, training, and rapid response to safeguard Lagosians.”
Dr. Oke-Osanyintolu also advised motorists to avoid excessive speeding and to report damaged roads to the appropriate authorities, saying responsible driving remains key to preventing avoidable crashes.
