The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, has released fresh guidelines for prospective corps members ahead of the upcoming orientation camp, warning against night travel and outlining key requirements for registration.
In a notice posted on its official X handle on Monday, the scheme urged prospective corps members to prioritise safety while travelling to their assigned camps across the country.
Key Guidelines You Must Know
1. No Night Travel
“Prospective Corps Members are advised not to travel at night to the orientation camp,” the NYSC stated.
The scheme stressed that travelling during the day reduces risk and ensures corps members arrive safely.
2. Graduation Date Must Match
The NYSC warned that candidates with discrepancies in their graduation dates will not be registered.
“*Prospective Corps Members with discrepancies in the date of graduation on their call-up letters and the date on their statement of results will not be registered in the orientation camp*,” it said.
Affected candidates were directed to *sort out such issues with their Student Affairs Officers, SAOs*, before reporting to camp.
3. Complete Your Registration Documents
The scheme reminded PCMs to print and sign their registration forms online.
“Prospective Corps Members are advised to print and sign the form, which is to be submitted during registration at the orientation camp,” it stated.
4. Correction of Date of Birth
For those seeking to correct their date of birth, NYSC advised them to obtain a *19- or 20-digit WAEC Verification PIN* and follow the process on their NYSC dashboard.
Steps:
– Access the “Correction of Date of Birth” link
– Enter your WAEC Verification PIN
– Select WAEC type, year of examination, and examination number
– Verify and submit the request
The scheme urged all prospective corps members to comply with the guidelines to ensure a smooth registration process and avoid challenges during the orientation exercise.
Orientation camp is a mandatory 3-week exercise where corps members are documented, trained, and deployed to their places of primary assignment.
