Tension grips Ojo Road, Ajegunle after a suspected cult war left one man dead and another seriously injured.
The violence began on Sunday evening, September 27, after a dispute between members of the *Aye* and *Vikings* confraternities.
According to a report by Naija Confra, a member of the Aye cult group identified as *Qudus* allegedly stabbed a suspected member of the Vikings.
In retaliation, suspected Vikings members later attacked Qudus, leaving him with serious injuries.
“He was reportedly taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment,” the report stated.
The attack on Qudus then triggered a bloody reprisal.
Suspected Aye members allegedly stormed a bus stop on Ojo Road and *shot and killed a man*, claiming he was a Viking member. However, members of the rival Vikings group have denied that the deceased was one of them, insisting he was an innocent resident.
An X user, Mohawk, who commented on the incident gave a different version.
Mohawk alleged that four people initially went to the area to start the fight and that one of them brought an outsider into the area, who attacked Qudus and three others. Some of those involved were reportedly unaware of the outsider’s intention.
“He was reported at the station and police officers subsequently searched his residence,” Mohawk added.
When contacted, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, said she was not aware of the incident.
“I’ll have to check with the DPO or Area Commander. I’ll get back to you tomorrow,” she said.
As at press time, police have not confirmed any arrest. Residents of Ajegunle are calling for increased patrols around Ojo Road, Trinity and Boundary areas where cult clashes have become frequent.
