Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, a Nigerian evangelist and regional chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) in Plateau State’s Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, has refuted allegations that he prayed for Vise President Kashim Shettima and President Bola Tinubu to win the 2027 presidential election on a Muslim-Muslim ticket.
The explanation was made in a social media post on Monday nite by Dachomo, who is presently in Israel on what he called his first International Christian Advocacy Tour.
The explanation came in response to reports that he prayed for President Tinubu’s administration while in Israel. He claimed to be praying for Tinubu and his administration during the prayer.
“People are trying to frame me, saying I prayed for a Muslim-Muslim ticket. But I did not, and I will never pray for a Muslim-Muslim ticket because Nigeria belongs to both Muslims and Christians,” the cleric stated.
“I pray for both Muslims and Christians in Nigeria. I pray for Nigeria to succeed. If you truly want to come to God, come with a clean heart. I did not pray for President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima to win in 2027. My prayers have always been for Nigeria to succeed.”
Ultimately, people should stop misrepresenting others’ words or mixing up their personal views. Praying for Nigeria is important, but Rev. Dachomo is entitled to his own beliefs about whom to pray for and what to pray for. Those views should be reported accurately and without being framed as an endorsement.
