Vinicius Jr., a forward for Real Madrid, will miss the much-anticipated El Clásico against Barcelona on October 25 due to a four-match suspension imposed by the Spanish Football Federation.
After being dismissed during Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Villarreal, the Brazilian international will miss Real Madrid’s La Liga games against Sevilla, Barcelona, Racing Santander, and Valencia.
Fabrizio Romano stated on X on Wednesday that “Vinicius Jr. has been suspended for 4 La Liga games — out for El Clásico.
“The Brazilian will miss the following games, Sevilla (H), Barcelona (A), Racing Club (A) and Valencia (A)
After Vinicius pulled Villarreal defender Nathan Saliba’s hair, the disciplinary committee suspended him for two games for violent behavior. He was also suspended for two games for his protests after receiving a red card.
Vinicius appeared to have scored a second goal for Real Madrid, but the effort was disallowed after a video assistant referee review revealed the suspenseful incident.
The referee’s report also describes the forward’s response to the dismissal after he was sent off.
After the incident, Vinicius apologized to his teammates and the club’s supporters.
It’s sad to see Vinícius miss such an important match—this is certainly no cause for celebration, and I’m sure Real Madrid will feel his absence. Since he has apologised, I hope the authorities will consider tempering justice with mercy. Vinícius is a talented player, but he can get annoyed easily; he should work on managing his anger, staying calm, and thinking before reacting. If you feel the same, please leave a heart ❤️
