Friday Of Week 31 In Ordinary Time

Friday Of Week 31 In Ordinary Time

The Christian life demands the courage to go against the tide, to love like Jesus, who even went so far as to sacrifice Himself on the Cross, that is what it is. The steward in today’s parable went at all cost to secure his office an position.

Paraphrasing one of St. Augustine’s thoughts, one could say, that through earthly riches we must procure for ourselves those true and eternal riches – indeed, if people exist who are prepared to resort to every type of dishonesty to assure themselves an always unpredictable material well-being, how much more concerned we Christians must be to provide for our eternal happiness with the goods of this earth (Discourses, 359, 10).

The gospel of today therefore, is a reminder that all of our wealth or possessions including our talents are gifts from God. We must be good stewards of them. That means we ought to use them for the good of all and for the glory of God.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
