Wednesday Of The Fourth Week Of Easter

In today’s first reading, we witness the power of the Holy Spirit and the Gospel as it spreads from Cyprus to Europe and eventually to us.

This was all initiated by God, who appointed Barnabas and Paul for a special duty while they were praying and fasting. God calls us individually, and it’s up to the Church to obey. The Church has no authority over God, who is the one in charge.

The message of the Good News brought by Paul and Barnabas changed the pagan world and made it a better place. Even today, their message is still spreading. Gamaliel, who was Paul’s teacher, must have been shocked to hear that his student had not only converted but was also spreading the Gospel to another continent. Thanks to the power of God, the Church has become universal.

Are you being called by the Holy Spirit? Are you following the dictates of the Holy Spirit? Are you living your life according to the Word of God, knowing that there are consequences for deceit? Is the Gospel your guide for every decision you make? Just like the Church of Antioch cooperated with the Word of God, you too should cooperate with the Word of God.

God called them, and they obeyed with great joy. We should spread the Gospel with great joy to see the power of God at work. The capacity to send people is more important than the seating capacity of a Church. Being a true disciple of God means being ready to trust the path that He guides us through. Believe in the Word of God and proclaim it to be fulfilled in it.
