Peter Obi Speaks On CNN, Reveals His Plan For Farmers In The North

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, has pledged to take urgent action against insecurity in order to revive farming in the North.

In an interview with Asher Zain on Friday on Cable News Network International (CNN), Obi stated that if elected in 2023, his top priority during the first few days of his presidency would be to bring calm to the North because the insecurity there is having a detrimental effect on the economy.

When the interviewer asked about his plans to save the Nigerian economy from collapsing, Peter Obi said, “One, is that you have to deal decisively with the issue of security because it is impacting negatively on the economy.

“You have to get the farmers to get back to the farms and you have to ensure that the vast lands of the North are invested and cultivated on; you have to start pulling people out of poverty as quickly as possible.

“You have to reduce aggressively the cost of governance and deal with the issue of corruption.”

The former governor of Anambra State claimed that the issues of enormous debt, oil theft, corruption, and a paralyzed economy in Nigeria, requires a leader who is competent and has a clear, demonstrable vision.
