Abuja Court Orders Temporary Forfeiture Of 40 Properties Belonging To Senator Ike Ekweremadu

Ike Ekweremadu, the former deputy president of the senate, will have 40 of his landed properties temporarily forfeited following an order issued by the Abuja Federal High Court on Friday.

The interim forfeiture order affects 10 of Ekweremadu’s properties in Enugu, 3 in the United States of America (USA), 2 in the United Kingdom (UK), 1 in Lagos, 9 in Dubai, and 15 in the Federal Capital Territory.

Following an ex-parte motion filed and moved by Ibrahim Buba on behalf of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, or EFCC, the trial judge, Justice Inyang Ekwo, issued the order.

In his decision on the motion, the judge mandated that the EFCC publish the interim forfeiture order of the properties in a national daily within seven days of the date the order was given.

Furthermore, Justice Ekwo has adjourned the case until December 5, 2022, for a report on any objections from members of the public to the properties.

Ekweremadu and his wife are currently facing charges of organ harvesting in the United Kingdom and are said to be held there till May 2, 2023.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
