Two Female Students Arrested After Beating Up Their Teacher

Two female students from Adesuwa Secondary School in Benin have been detained by the Edo State Police Command for reportedly attacking a teacher.

The arrest was verified by the command’s spokesperson, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, in a statement released on Friday, November 25, 2022, in Benin.

Preliminary investigations, according to the PPRO, showed that the arrested pupils were the main suspects of an unrest on Thursday at an all-girls school that was started by some students.

He said, “The students were dissatisfied with disciplinary measures taken by a female teacher in the school against some students during an English Language class.”

SP Nwabuzor stated that Mohammed Dankwara, the state commissioner of police, had reassured the public, in particular the parents and guardians of children at the school, that there was no need for concern as things had returned to normal at the school.

“He advised parents and guardians of those students to submit their children/wards who were involved in the agitation,” Mr Nwabuzor said.

The police spokesman also stated that the CP instructed the Divisional Police Officer of the Aduwawa Division to transmit the case file to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Benin, for further investigation when the preliminary investigation was completed.
