What holds your attention?

Monday Perspective

What holds your attention?

Dissatisfaction comes when our attention shifts from what we have to what we don’t have. The people of Israel didn’t seem to notice what God was doing for them – setting them free, making them a nation, giving them a new land because they were so wrapped up in what God wasn’t doing for them. They could not stop thinking about the delicious Egyptian food they had left behind. They had, for some reason, completely forgotten that the price of eating that food was being beaten mercilessly by Egyptian slave masters.

As we go through the week, it’s useful to consider what holds our attention the majority of the time. Are we appreciative for what God has given us, or are we constantly worrying about what we want? We must not let our unsatisfied wishes drive us to overlook God’s gifts of life, food, health, job, and friends.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
